Research Engineer, Earthquake Job ID: 2008-18678 # Positions: 1 Location: US- Experience (Years): 3 Posted Date: 12/02/2009 Category: Research - All Openings More information about this job: Responsibilities: * Data acquisition, and understanding building inventory and its vulnerability subjected to earthquakes at any interested region worldwide * Development of fragility curves and monetary loss curves for structural and non-structural components subjected to earthquakes for the regions of interest * Implement the research of building vulnerability into AIR’s earthquake portfolio risk analysis models, and validate its probabilistic risk assessment * Real time building damage assessment due to manmade and natural catastrophes * Provide technical supports about earthquake modeling and results to AIR’s staffs and clients * Technical writing for internal and external publications Qualifications: * Proficient in MATLAB, FORTRAN and/or C/C++ * Experience in probabilistic and stochastic risk assessment and modeling, particularly in the field of engineering * Demonstrated data mining skills (SQL and/or statistical analysis) * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Solid documentation skills * Knowledge of structural design and nonlinear structural analysis * Knowledge of GIS application (e.g, ArcView) a plus * Knowledge of building stock and vulnerability in specific regions (worldwide) a plus * Requirements: * PhD in Earthquake and/or Structural Engineering Apply for this job: * Apply for this jobonline
