Description and Desired Qualifications Journeyman Electrician - Prudhoe Bay, Alaska
The challenge? Helping ensure the supply of our world's oil and gas. At CH2M HILL, we deliver solutions that span the entire breadth of the oil industry. OurJourneyman Electricianjobs provide you with the opportunity to work and live on the North Slope of Alaska on a rotational basis. Each day you will install, maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment, wiring and controls in a petrochemical environment. You will ensure that procedures are established and followed, and that safe work standards are understood and practiced. You should be a self-motivated individual with at least three (3) experience working in Class One, Division I & II areas, preferably in the petrochemical industry.
OurJourneyman Electrician:
. Maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation and construction of industrial electrical equipment and systems through the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in petrochemical facilities
. Bend, cut, thread and install conduit
. Install and terminate wiring
. Check and troubleshoot electric circuits, electrical devices and machinery
. Use and care of tools and equipment such as hydraulic/electric bender, knock out punch set, cable puller, megger, high-pot equipment, volt meter, multi-tester and ammeters
. Test, troubleshoot, set and calibrate power distribution systems working with protective relaying and motor control circuits
. Routinely perform safety and productivity observations as well as shop, field and vehicle inspections
. Attend various technical, developmental and safety training
. Demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
AdditionalJourneyman ElectricianKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
. Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and specifications
. Ability to set and coordinate overcurrent protective devices, size feeder circuits
. Ability to work on systems up to and including 13.8 KV
. Possess working knowledge of the National Electric Code
. Understand electrical circuits including the operation and function of typical electrical devices and machinery such as solenoids, relays, motors, transformers, switches, motor control centers, generators, batteries and lighting systems
. Experience working in Class One, Division I & II areas
. Understand Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
. Able to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with fellow workers and alternate
. Working knowledge of Industrial Electrical Construction and/or Maintenance practices

. Vision must be adequate to perform above listed job tasks in a safe manner.
Lifting:
. Routinely lift, pull and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Occasionally lift, pull and/or move up to seventy (70) pounds.
Communications Skills:
. Must display ability to read and understand job descriptions, safety/technical manuals, procedures, permits, JSA's (Job Safety Analysis), SETA cards (Safety-Environmental Task Assessment), safety/warning signs and demonstrate competency, either oral or written, as required. Must display sufficient oral communication skills to be able to give and receive emergency instructions, oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.
Environment:
. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to severe arctic weather conditions. May be required to work with toxic or caustic chemicals. The position requires a remote site, rotational work schedule.
