'Twas The Night B4 Christmas... Twitter Style

posted by: rich trombetta on 12/24/09

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was tweeting, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by TweetDeck with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of hashtags danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a Ka-blitter,
I sprang from the bed to check it all out on Twitter.

Away to bit.ly I typed like a flash,
Tore open the computer and logged onto the mash(able).
The words on the screen of the new-written tweet
Was a new trending topic that was o so neat,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature blog, and 140 characters so dear,
With a little old tweeter, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and tweeted them by name;

Now,Twitter! now, Facebook! Now, MySpace and LinkedIn!
On, Google! OnYahoo! On, Blogger and Digg(in)!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now tweet away! tweet away! tweet away all!

As all the commotion that would make Biz Stone so proud,
When I saw such a great tweet that I yelled out so loud,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
It became a trending topic about St. Nicholas too!.
And then, in a retweet, I read on my phone
About prancing and pawing on everyone’s home.
As I typed in my text, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his feet,
This was such a great sight I had to retweet;
A bundle of tweets he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a blogger just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! His hashtags how merry!
His cheeks were like geo tags, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth as pretty as a dress,
I had to share this in 140 or less;

The whole of a iPhone he held tight in his pocket,
And he sent off tweets as fast as a rocket;
He had a broad face and a little Blackberry,
That vibrated, when it rang like a bowlful of jelly.
His tweets were retweeted, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I read them, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a quick push of send,
I hoped that this tweetup would never end;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his tweets,
And filled all the stockings; then tweeted to someone he wanted to meet,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team sent a tweet,
And away they all flew like all the way down our street.
But I saw him tweet, ere he drove out of sight,
#HappyChristmas 2all, n 2all a good-night!@TweetmyJOBS"
