The no pants interview and other job seeking tips
posted by: Administrator on 08/31/09
Here at TweetMyJOBS our staff is constantly receiving emails asking for job seeking advice. We decided to open up our mail bag and share some of the questions we received and our responses. Hopefully by sharing this information it will be of benefit to everyone.
Have a question? Post it to our blog...
Dear TweetMyJOBS:
I am lazy, never get anything accomplished, and everyone describes me as unethical. Would government work be good for me? I was thinking US Congress. What do you think?
Signed,
Dirt Bag
Dear Dirt Bag:
While on the surface it appears you are very qualified for Congress, your may run into trouble due to your candor and honesty. Get over that hurdle and Dirt Bag goes to Washington!
Dear TweetMyJOBS:
I went to a job interview without any pants on. I did not get the job. Do you think this had any effect on the company’s hiring decision? My wife thinks it did.
Signed,
Bowlegged
Dear Bowlegged:
Companies are being more and more particular in this tough economy. While in the past not wearing pants or a shirt may not have caused any issues, today going pants free to an interview is a risky move. On one hand, you will definitely stand out. On the other hand it could be a distraction especially if you have hairy legs. We don’t want to get involved in a domestic dispute or affect your marriage so we will not comment if your actions played a part in the company’s decision. With that said, your wife is probably right.
Dear TweetMyJOBS:
I am a prostitute and I am upset that you do not have any escort service channels on your site. I find it hard to believe that with over 6000 job channels you couldn’t add a few for the world’s oldest profession. If there is ever a job where instant notification of an open position is needed, it is definitely prostitution. Could you please add a prostitution channel for Saginaw, Michigan?
Signed,

I actually lost a position because I smelled of smoke......I had quit recently but did not realize my clothes still smelled of smoke! Big issue these days folks - don't smoke for HOURS before an interview and make sure you Febreeze your clothes and air them out as well. "They" recommend you tell prospective employers you are healthy and a non-smoker during interviews. Also don't wear ANY cologne at all to an interview. If they don't like the smell, you may not be considered for the job. Or, you may remind them of a previous boss they did not get along with. If you wear no scent, you can't remind them of anyone!
